Commitment

Our Mission

Founded on the grounds of responsible business, ethical and considered trade over profit and supporting both the environment and the communities in which we operate. At the forefront of Jace Banu is the concept of thoughtful and considered design paired with ethical manufacturing and responsible materials. Our prioritisation of the natural world and its inhabitants cement our beliefs and direct each and every decision we make. Our business has been built around four key pillars:

- Environmentally responsible business
- Ethics over profit
- Environmental and social support
- Pioneering industry and societal change

Our Partners

We carefully curate our manufacturing partners based on a number of factors, including craftsmanship excellence, social ethics and environmental responsibility. We are committed to upholding our core values and consider our manufacturing partners as an extension of our business.

Our signature woven hats are responsibly handcrafted in Ecuador and Madagascar using native toquilla straw and raffia palm by local, skilled artisans, supporting local traditions and weaving techniques. Our manufacturing partners were carefully selected for their ethics, values and skills and have signed our Code of Conduct. They guarantee their work is free from modern slavery and possess programs that prevent corruption and bribery throughout the business and supply chain. Artisans and employees also have access to a free substance addiction and abuse program, which assists individuals and the greater community.

We strive for complete supply chain traceability, working along the line of supply to ensure the same values and ethics are supported and that programs, agreements and codes are exercised and followed.

Our Materials

The materials that we use are carefully selected to align with our values, using natural fibres that won’t cost the earth.

Our woven hats are responsibly handcrafted using native toquilla straw and raffia by local, skilled artisans, supporting local traditions and weaving techniques. Dyes and chemicals used as part of our woven hat process are tested and approved under Europe Union, Japanese and United States standards. Documentation and verification of these claims have been provided and verified, along with UPF ratings and colour-fastening.

We understand the impacts that we have on our natural world and we strive to make responsible decisions, to offset those actions where possible and to continue to improve our processes as we continue to grow.

Environmental & Social Support

We understand the impacts that we have on our environment and we strive to make responsible decisions. Our prioritisation of the natural world and its inhabitants cements our beliefs, while we continue to offset the actions of our business where possible.

As part of our social responsibility, $1 from every online sale is donated to support local communities where our pieces are created. By partnering with Global Giving, we are able to carefully select issues and efforts that directly impact the people and communities within our business and extended supply chain.

Our environmental support continues with $1 from every online sale being pledged to Carbon Positive Australia, to support planting projects across Australia, combating climate change, restoring native habitats and biodiversity, reducing soil erosions and improving water quality.
